Social Media is the new “house call” for pastors. When first time guests, members and attenders leave the church doors on Sunday, we can stay engaged in conversation with them all week through social media.

While social media platforms can be negative, as The Church we have an opportunity, not to stay away from them, but to invade them with the hope of the Gospel.

In this Ministry Hangout, we talked with Dave Adamson, the Social Media Pastor at North Point Community Church in Atlanta, GA on how to leverage social media to grow your church.

Practical Action Steps You Can Take

  1. Find Out Where Your People Are. Instead of jumping on to all the social media platforms, spend time finding out where your visitors and attenders are most engaged and focus there.
  2. Spend time listening. Social media is a great way to find out what is going on with your members and attenders. Dave encourages spending time looking at members and attenders profiles and listen to what they are saying. What are they struggling with? How can you pray for them? Scrolling through their posts is a great way to get to know them.
  3. Ask a Question. Questions cultivate conversation. Dave encourages using a question mark more often than a period because it invites people to engage and respond.
