Pastor’s Book Club - The Infinite Game: Book Breakdown
We tend to see the world in terms of wins and losses, success and failure. And this view comes with grave consequences over the long term. There’s no such thing as coming in first in marriage or winning friendship. In a finite game, the game ends when the time is up and the players move on to something else. In an infinite game, it’s the game that lives on and the players whose time runs out. We must start thinking about how to build organizations that are strong enough and healthy enough to stay in the game for many generations to come. The true value of an organization is measured by the desire others have to contribute to that organization’s ability to keep succeeding, not just during the time they are there, but well beyond their own tenure.
